A large proportion of Cheethams Park is taken up with Eastwood Nature Reserve. The area consists of twelve acres of ancient woodland, streams and ponds, which are dotted with opportunities to study nature unobseved, in the shape of hides and feeding areas. The reserve is one of the oldest R.S.P.B. areas and was presented to Stalybridge by the Cheetham family.
