droylsden marketDroylsden at one time consisted of Droylsden, Little Droylsden and Clayton.  Little Droylsden is now Openshaw, and Clayton no longer belongs to Droylsden, but Manchester.

One of the most interesting and historic parts of the town, is the Moravian Settlement.  Although the area is still residential today, fascinating tours are available retelling it's history, and illustrating it through the buildings which have been preserved from the late eighteenth century.

Droylsden has its own park, Lees Park.  There is a grassy area for playing sport and a well equipped childrens play area, which is adequate for older children as well as toddlers.  A specialised play area for very small children is situated nearby.

Daisy Nook is popular with children because of it's varied habitat, and adults who appreciate natural beauty.  Situated on the border between Ashton and Droylsden, it is possible to have a day in the countryside, while only being a short walk away from the latter's town centre.

droylsden town centreThe Concord Suite is the base for many activities.  It serves as the town community centre and is available as a venue for hire.  Sport is also an important part of life here.  There is a well supported football team and a running track. Although there is a swimming baths on Manchester Road, approval has recently been granted for a new swimming facility to be built near the Medlock Sports Centre.one of the two leisure centres.  But if you prefer spectating rather than joining in, why not treat yourself to a night at Droylsden Little Theatre, where various aspects of local talents are always on display?
