St Michael's and All Angelsst, michael's

St. Michael's and all Angels church, was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. The building that is still in existence today dates back to the fifteenth century. It is one of only two Grade I listed buildings in Tameside.

The stained glass that was created six hundred years ago is in it's original condition, and inside the church the parish registers can be traced back as far as 1594, making family tree research possible.

There is a fantastic view of Ashton from the tower, and as admission is free ashtonit is worth taking the time to examine this beautiful piece of architecture.

Guided tours by arrangement, admission is free but donations to help finance the upkeep of the Church are welcome.
